The Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management aims to provide an understanding of the managerial, decision making and leadership aspects of the international hotel industry. In addition it is also designed to develop independent research and study skills which will be required when working at senior managerial level in the industry.

Who can do this course?

This course is for you if:

1. You have already completed your Diploma in Hotel Management or equivalent qualification and wish to do advanced course for better career prospects.
2. You are already working in the hospitality industry in a supervisory level, and wish to enhance your career to the management level.
3. You wish to or already an entrepreneur in this field.
4. You will like to continue with further education abroad, so you can take  up this course and then move on to do final year of graduation degree in hospitality in one of the reputed universities out of India.

Eligibility:

Entry at Advanced Diploma level is conditional on successful completion of the Diploma level course or a duly approved equivalent (subject to approval from CTH). You may also be eligible if you have two or more years' experience in Hospitality Industry at supervisory level. Proficiency in English language is a must.

Duration of Course:

You will have to complete 450 hours of online studies over a period of one year in all the prescribed modules to be eligible to appear for final examination conducted by CTH.

Delivery & Assessment

• 450 hours of online study consisting of carefully prepared and high quality text based lessons, presentations, pre-recored lectures and online chat and discussion forum.
• Online tests after each lesson for next level transition
• Series of assignments and projects to be marked by tutor
• Online final examination after completion of each module. Award of CIHM Centre for Virtual Learning certificate on successful completion of modules.
• Five of the six modules are assessed by an assignment and a three hour examination. The sixth module is assessed through a 5000 word Management Research Report. All assessments are marked by CTH.

 

Syllabus Overview

Food and Beverage Management

A broad understanding of the variety of food and beverage operations in the industry and the skills required to manage them effectively.

Strategic Hospitality Management

This provides an understanding of the strategic process applied in the hospitality industry, including an internal and external analysis and selecting and implementing future strategic options.

Facilities Management

This module covers the operational aspects of this topic and the skills and understanding required to manage an environmentally friendly operation effectively.

Management Accounting

Students will gain an understanding of the financial and accounting records used in the hospitality industry and the ways these can aid effective management decision making.

Human Resource Management

This module introduces the students to a wide range of theoretical perspectives on how to manage the human resource, supported by extensive benchmarking against 'real-world' standards.

Management Research Report

Students carry out a research report that involves analysing and interpreting data and making recommendations for the future. In doing so, they develop independent research and study skills that will be required when working in the industry.
