It explains the issues surrounding the need for individualized security programs, examines a wide variety of security and safety equipment and procedures, discusses guest protection and internal security for asset protection, explores risk management and loss prevention issues, that are must for any senior hotel manager.

• Legal concerns in providing safe and secure accommodations for guests, preliminary considerations in setting up a security program, including the importance of law enforcement liaison and security training, Methods of security staffing, noting the potential strengths and weaknesses of each method.
• Security equipment, including physical security systems, surveillance systems, communication systems, alarm systems, and guest room security equipment such as locks.
• Security procedures that deal with guest protection and internal control. Report writing and record keeping.
• Protection of the accounting function, including accounting control and cashiering procedures, credit policies, computer security, and an internal audit program.
• Emergency management program that deals with bombs and bomb threats, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, blackouts, robberies, medical emergencies, terrorism, and working effectively with the media in the event of an emergency situation.
• Risk management program.
